4.2. Ordering via the Subscription Shop
4.2.1. Why is data processed and on what legal basis?
When ordering from the Subscription Shop (taking out a subscription), the data required to establish a contract and to handle your order will be processed, i.e. first and last name, invoice address, e-mail address and payment details such as your credit card number (customer details). The Data is processed for the purposes of attribution of your order to yourself, the provision of access to the content of the subscription purchased, mailing of invoices where applicable, payment handling and the clarification of any legal claims. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1) b) GDPR.
To take out a subscription in the Subscription Shop, you have to create a customer account by registering with us. You need a customer account to use your subscription after purchasing on the platforms provided for this purpose (e.g. on the allango.net learning platform, hereafter “Platform” or “Platforms”) and for future orders. Your customer details will be stored in our Subscription Shop also for use with future orders so that you will not need to enter them a second time. To register, it is additionally necessary to enter user identification (e-mail address) and a password (access details) so that you and only you are then able to log into your customer account. We may process the Data you have provided according to Art. 6(1) b) GDPR where this is necessary for the establishment or performance of a contract. In other respects, we may furthermore process the Data in accordance with Art. 6(1) f) GDPR, as we wish to simplify ordering for you in future.
To terminate a subscription purchased in the Subscription Shop , it is necessary to enter your first and last name as well as an e-mail address. The Data will be processed in order to attribute your notice of termination to yourself and your subscription.
In other respects, we may process Data which you have voluntarily given us on ordering or registration where you have consented to such processing. This involves for example your date of birth, your combination of subjects/spheres of interest or your type of educational establishment. Such voluntary Data is processed so that we can contact you more quickly with any queries about your order and for purposes of internal market research. The legal basis for this is Art. 6(1) a).
4.2.2. Is data transferred?
Data is transferred to the relevant service providers for the purposes of order handling (taking out a subscription), the creation of a user account and on termination of a subscription (see item 4.1 above).
By registering in the Subscription Shop, you will also be automatically registered with the other websites of Ernst Klett Sprachen, so that you are then able to use your login data on these five websites. This likewise applies vice versa. All websites access the same database. Should you use your account on a website of Ernst Klett Sprachen and access its pages, please note the data protection information for these pages.
In other respects, we may furthermore process the Data in accordance with Art. 6(1) f) GDPR, as we wish to simplify ordering for you in future via the pages klett-sprachen.de, klett-international.com, klett-sprachen.es and deltapublishing.co.uk.
4.2.3. Do I have to give my details?
You are not obliged to provide your Data either on a legal or a contractual basis. To conclude a contract with us, it is however necessary to at least give your name, your address and your e-mail address. We will not otherwise be able to create a proper invoice for you or send you an order confirmation by e-mail. With all types of payment it is also necessary to specify payment details, or we will otherwise be unable to charge your account or your credit card with the agreed price. No other data is required to conclude a contract with ourselves.
To terminate a subscription, you must give your first and last name and an e-mail address. We will otherwise be unable to attribute your notice of termination to yourself or contact you with any queries. All other data in the termination form is not necessary to terminate a subscription, although they help us attribute a termination to the right subscription.
The Data in the termination form is used solely for termination of your subscription and is erased again immediately afterwards.
4.2.4. When at the latest will my Data be erased?
We are in principle permitted to retain data until final performance of the individual contract.
Where retention is necessary in order to fulfil our statutory obligations under Art. 6(1) c) GDPR in conjunction with the German Commercial Code (Handelsgesetzbuch) and the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung), we are authorised to do so until expiry of the retention periods specified therein.
Data provided in the framework of registration will either be erased at your request or at the latest five years after your last order unless we are authorised to retain it for a longer period on the grounds given above.
We also use your Data to send out advertising for our products if you have been a customer of ours in the last three years, have given us your postal address and have made no objection to receiving advertising by post or any other advertising (as regards your right of objection, see item 5.4). Processing of the Data is based on Art. 6(1) f) GDPR. We have a legitimate economic interest in sending advertising out by post to existing customers.
We use your Data to send out advertising by e-mail for similar products that you have already purchased from us, unless you objected to receiving advertising by e-mail (as regards your right of objection, see item 5.4). Processing of the Data is based on section 7(3) German Law against Unfair Competition (UWG).

In order to best tailor such mailings to your needs, the dispatching specialist publisher to whom we have given your postal address, will make a limited selection beforehand based on your customer details stored by all specialist publishers.
The legal basis for such data processing is Art. 6(1) f) GDPR, which permits the processing of personal data in the framework of the “legitimate interest” of the controller or a third party, unless outweighed by your fundamental rights, fundamental freedoms or interests. Our legitimate interests and those of the other specialist publishing houses exist in direct advertising and customer loyalty by means of customised mailings.
Should you no longer wish in future to receive such mailings from other specialist publishers in the Klett learning and information group, you can object to the processing of your Data for purposes of third-party advertising in accordance with Art. 21(2) GDPR at any time. Please send your objection to: kundenservice@klett-sprachen.de.
The companies in the Klett learning and information group have set out in an agreement governing the customer database kept in joint responsibility which obligations of data protection law are to be fulfilled by which company. We will supply you with the substantive content of this agreement on request. You can apply to us at any time if you wish to exercise your rights, e.g. the right to information, and for all enquiries relating to data protection (see item 2 above)
Your customer details will not be stored by us for advertising purposes in the customer database kept in joint responsibility by the companies of the Klett learning and information group beyond the time indicated above. The details of your postal address transferred to other specialist publishing houses of the Klett learning and information group and the associated selection results will be erased by same after a maximum period of three months.

If you open one of our newsletters and click on a link found there, this information will be anonymised, i.e. without any reference to yourself, and transferred to us for statistical purposes.
The legal basis for mailing is the consent that you gave us when ordering the newsletter (Art. 6(1) a) GDPR). You are not obliged to provide your Data here. You have the option of changing cookie settings at any time or of giving or revoking your consent at a later date. The footer at the bottom of each page includes a link “Change cookie settings”, which gives you access to the management of cookies.
Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH
Our website uses services of Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH for web analytics and statistical purposes. Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH is a company based in Germany at Schönhauser Allee 148, 10435 Berlin, which collects, stores and analyses usage data. It has been certified for data protection in the field of web controlling in Germany in accordance with the prevailing standards ISO 27001 and ISO 27018 following an audit of data protection compliance and data security of its data processing operations.
Description and scope of data processing
We analyse statistical values relating to the use of our offers and services for the improvement and further development of our website. During your visit anonymised data without personal details is transferred from your browser for internal purposes only, in the context of website optimisation. This permits storage (solely on servers in Germany) and analysis of the usage details by Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH. The usage data collected is anonymised by Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH through truncation of the IP address. Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH is thus unable to trace you as a user of our websites. The truncated IP address is needed solely for purposes of session identification and geolocalisation (down to city level) and is deleted directly afterwards.
Option of objection and removal
The cookies used by Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk are classified as statistical cookies. You have the option of changing your cookie settings in the cookie banner at any time or of granting or revoking your consent at a later date. To do so, simply check or uncheck the “Statistical” checkbox in the cookie banner and click “Confirm selection”. The purposes of the cookies used can be found in the table under item 4.5.2.
With unchecking in the cookie banner, session-based data is collected in the course of anonymous tracking. No personal identification takes place here, or across sessions and devices. Tracing, i.e. to a specific natural person, is not possible at any time.
At no time is collected Data used for marketing purposes.
Further information on data protection at Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk GmbH can be found at https://mapp.com/de/datenschutz/.
Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis for the processing of anonymised analytical data by Mapp Digital c/o Webtrekk is Art. 28 DGSVO and 6(1) f) GDPR by reason of our legitimate interest in adapting our website to user needs, ensuring ease of use and carrying out internal market research. If you do not give us your consent to set cookies, we will perform fully anonymised measurement on the basis of Art. 6(1) f).
4.5.4. Use of Google AdWords conversion tracking
We use Google Adwords to highlight our offers with the help of advertising on external websites. This allows us to determine how successful individual adverts are.
These adverts are supplied by Google via ad servers. To this end we use ad server cookies, which allow certain parameters for assessing performance, e.g. display of adverts or clicks by users, to be measured. Where you access our website via a Google advert, a cookie is stored by Google Adwords on your computer or end device. To learn about the validity period of marketing cookies, see item 4.5.2. Analytical values are generally stored for this cookie (cookie ID, number of ad impressions per placement (frequency), last impression, as well as opt-out information indicating that the user does not wish to receive interest-based advertising).
These cookies allow Google to recognise your browser again. Where a user accesses certain pages on the website of an Adwords customer and the cookie saved on the user’s computer has not expired, Google and the customer can then see that the user clicked on the advertisement and was taken to this page. Every Adwords customer is assigned a different cookie; cookies cannot be tracked via the web pages of Adwords customers. We do not ourselves process any data in these adverts. We only receive statistical analyses from Google. These analyses enable us to identify which adverts are effective.
Based on the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection to the Google server. We have no control over further processing of the data by Google. The incorporation of AdWords conversion informs Google that you accessed a specific part of our website or clicked on our advertising. If you have registered with a service of Google, Google can assign this access to your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or are not logged in, your IP address may possibly be processed by the provider.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1) f) GDPR and, in the event of your consent, Art. 6(2) a) GDPR. Here we are pursuing the interest of showing you advertising that is relevant to you and ensuring a fair calculation of advertising costs.
The provision of data to Google is not obligatory, nor is it required to conclude a contract with ourselves.
The cookies used for Google Adwords conversion are classified as marketing cookies. You have the option of changing your cookie settings at subscription.allango.net and of giving or revoking your consent at a later date (see item 4.5.2). To do so, simply check or uncheck the “Marketing” checkbox in the cookie banner and click “Confirm selection”.

This includes evaluation and analysis facilities for usage of the page and all administrative options for design and presentation of the pages.
We operate our offers on these platforms under the data protection provisions of the individual service providers. Findings from this Data are solely used for internal purposes and direct consultation, as well as to respond to your comments and messages. At the same time certain data is transferred to YouTube from the customer’s browser. This happens irrespective of whether the customer clicks on the video or not. The Publisher has no control over the extent of the data collected by YouTube in this manner. As far as is currently known to the Publisher, this involves the following data, in particular for presentation of the embedded YouTube Videos:
1. page accessed on our website that contains the video,
2. the data generally transferred by the customer’s browser (IP address, browser type/version, operating system, time),
3. with users of YouTube and Google who are registered and logged in, their Google user ID.
Embedded YouTube videos can also be hidden by browser add-ons so that no data is collected by YouTube.

5.4 Right to objection
Where we process data to preserve our interests solely on the basis of Art. 6(1) f) GDPR, you have the right, on grounds ensuing from your special situation, to object to the processing of your Data. Should you make objection, we will no longer process the Data concerned, unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for processing that outweigh your interests, rights and freedoms or where processing is to exercise legal claims.
You can furthermore object at any time to the processing of your Data for the purposes of marketing, without thereby incurring any costs other than those of transmission according to the basic rates. You can object to the mailing of advertising e-mails free of charge at any time by e.g. clicking on the relevant cancellation link at the end of such an e-mail.
